On 18 July 2024, in the plenary session in Strasbourg, you demonstrated a total lack of respect for the fundamental values of democracy and freedom of expression. Diana Iovanovici-Șoșoacă, lawyer and MEP elected by the Romanian people, president of the S.O.S. Romania Party, was forcibly expelled from the plenary session of the European Parliament because she had the courage to speak about the dignity of Romanians, about freedom, justice and faith, after she was denied the right to speak in the plenary session, although she requested it regularly, registering in advance in this regard.
This act of censorship and abuse of power is an insult to the Romanian people and to all European citizens who believe in the values of democracy, national sovereignty and freedom of expression. Allowing such actions to continue undermines the very essence of the European Union and the values you claim to defend.
It is unacceptable that the elected representatives of the people should be forcibly silenced by mere employees of the European Parliament just because they express opinions that do not conform to the guidelines and dictatorial lines of a so-called political elite.
MEPs must be free to speak, debate and defend the interests of the citizens they represent, without fear of being censored or expelled from the plenary. It is a fundamental right and an essential responsibility of any genuine democracy.
In the name of national sovereignty and the dignity of the Romanian people, we call on the European Parliament:
To immediately cease any form of censorship and persecution against MEPs who have the courage to speak openly and contrary to power.
Guarantee the right of all MEPs to freely express their opinions in plenary, without fear of reprisals.
Recognize and respect the diversity of opinions and beliefs of all EU Member States.
Romania will not kneel before bureaucratic tyranny! We will not allow our voice to be silenced! We will continue to defend our values, dignity and faith, regardless of the obstacles encountered.
This act of injustice by the European Parliament is unforgivable! We remain steadfast in our faith and freedom!
